Women of Distinction Awards and Ruby Awards
How to Write a Winning Nomination

  • Please read the criteria carefully.

Nominations which will NOT be considered:

    • Nominations that are late,
    • Nominations that have not been verified for accuracy,
    • Nominations that do not include the consent of the nominee, and
    • Nominations with more than the allowed number of attached pages
  • Members of Soroptimist are not eligible for the Ruby Award.
  • Members of Soroptimist are eligible for the Women of Distinction Awards.
  • Remember that nominees for Women of Distinction Awards must have a ten-year track record.
  • Please verify your nominee’s contact information.
  • Please be specific when describing your nominee’s accomplishments.
  • Please describe what your nominee has done that makes her a good candidate for the award.
    • Don’t assume that the judges will know how much work is involved, for instance, in creating a tutoring program for girls, or in running a nonprofit for low income women.
    • Give the judges descriptions of the effort, commitment and the passion the nominee has devoted to her work.
  • If your nominee has volunteered in community organizations, please tell us briefly what the organization does and what your nominee did when she volunteered.
  • If you are nominating someone for a Woman of Distinction Award, make sure that her accomplishments fit the category in which she is being nominated. If they don’t, perhaps you should consider nominating her in another category.
